JOB SUMMARY
Works under minimal supervision to provide responsible technical assistance in performance of assignments requiring basic knowledge of techniques and practices related to particular field of science.
The Department of Internal Medicine/Center for Hypothalamic Research is recruiting for a Research Assistant II position in Dr. Williams’ lab. We are looking for a candidate passionate about understanding how the brain controls body weight and blood glucose levels. This will be a fast-paced opportunity to participate in cutting-edge experiments studying mechanisms underlying changes in cellular/synaptic plasticity in mice, using whole cell patch-clamp electrophysiology, immunohistochemistry, and functional imaging. The ideal candidate will be self-motivated.
The job duties for this position include:
• Routine lab maintenance
• Perform mouse breeding, genotyping, histology and analytical assays
• Perform physiology experiments
• Electrophysiological recordings and in vivo imaging
• Assemble and operate various laboratory equipment and apparatus
• Performs other duties as assigned
