About the Role:
Join the Uwill team to support the mental health of underserved populations, such as veterans and students. Be part of a mission-driven team expanding access to high-quality mental health care. As a Uwill Counselor you will be offering teletherapy sessions by video, phone, or chat message to veterans and students in Alabama. This is a 1099 independent contractor role that allows you to work remotely, set your own schedule, and focus on providing exceptional clinical care without the administrative burden of traditional settings.
Essential Job Functions:
Manage an on-going caseload of clients from initial session to graduation from care.
Conduct video, telephone, or chat sessions with clients.
Utilize evidence-based practices and SMART goals tailored to client needs.
Deliver culturally competent care for a diverse veteran and student populations, including those from varying eras of service, racial and ethnic backgrounds, gender identities, and socioeconomic experiences.
Adhere to the risk assessment and management process of Uwill, including assessing for risk during the initial session with a client and as needed thereafter.
Complete session notes within time frame expectations.
Complete intake, treatment plan, and termination paperwork for work with veterans.
Respond to client messages in a timely manner.
Minimum Qualifications (Mandatory):
Master’s degree in a relevant field.
2 years of experience providing therapy in a telehealth setting using a variety of modalities.
An independent license to practice mental health therapy without supervision in Alabama. ( LPC, LICSW, LMFT or PsyD)
Previous military background or a specialty in working with veterans and/or active duty military.
Professional liability insurance.
HIPAA compliant professional and secure location to perform sessions.
Ability to provide sessions via Zoom on a computer or laptop that has a camera and microphone.
Special Knowledge, Skills, or Abilities:
Understanding of veteran-specific mental health concerns, including trauma, reintegration, and adjustment challenges.
Excellent interpersonal, and listening communication skills.
Excellent verbal and written communication skills, critical-thinking skills, use of sound judgment.
Possess the ability to work with a wide range of individuals presenting mental health concerns across broad levels of acuity including first-time therapy seekers.
Ability to assess risk and refer to Uwill’s Clinical Support team as needed.
Ability to respond with empathy, professionalism, and meet clients where they are.
