Job Description
Job Summary
We are seeking an experienced System Engineer with expertise in designing, securing, and maintaining resilient IT environments. This role focuses on implementing and supporting core IT infrastructure within an OT environment, ensuring high availability, operational resilience, and compliance for mission-critical operations in regulated settings.
Key Responsibilities
- Design and implement secure IT/OT architectures using industry best‑practice virtualization, including network segmentation, DMZs, secure access, and robust identity and access control mechanisms.
- Lead the standardization and optimization of on-premises virtualization platforms (VMware vSphere / Hyper-V) to support production systems with high availability and disaster recovery.
- Apply Zero Trust principles and standardized deployments to the system environments, including least‑privilege access, continuous authentication and authorization, network micro‑segmentation, and industrial system hardening.
- Manage critical maintenance activities including patching, change management, and backups across remote locations, ensuring timely security updates, reduced operational risk, and sustained reliability of industrial systems.
- Manage a 24×7 support and monitoring team, ensuring continuous visibility and rapid response to system events. Help establish and enhance comprehensive monitoring and observability across critical infrastructure using SolarWinds, including alerting, performance metrics, and log analysis.
- Support capacity management by continuously monitoring system utilization, analysing performance trends, and forecasting future resource requirements to ensure optimal performance and scalability. Develop and maintain capacity plans, define thresholds, and proactively address potential bottlenecks across compute, storage, and network resources.
- Act as the technical lead for refresh initiatives, evaluating end-of-life and end-of-support systems, planning upgrades or replacements, and coordinating lifecycle management activities. Ensure minimal disruption through structured planning, rigorous testing, and controlled deployment, while aligning with organizational standards and long-term infrastructure strategy.
- Design and support disaster recovery and business continuity implementations, including the establishment of robust processes for failover, recovery, testing, and ongoing operational readiness.
