As an Electrical Substation Cost Estimator, you will play a key role in translating engineering plans into accurate cost projections. You will collaborate with cross-functional teams, utilize industry-standard tools, and contribute to the successful execution of complex infrastructure projects.
This hybrid role offers flexibility, with at least two days per week onsite in Raleigh and the remainder remote. This is an excellent opportunity for professionals who thrive in a fast-paced, impactful environment.
Key Responsibilities
- Review and interpret engineering drawings and plans accurately
- Perform and document detailed quantity takeoffs for:
- Civil works
- Building construction
- High and low voltage electrical installations
- Mechanical installations
- Develop unit cost estimates for labor, equipment, and materials
- Prepare construction cost estimates based on drawings and specifications
- Provide budget estimates for electrical substation projects
- Support construction scheduling activities using cost data
- Evaluate subcontractor bids, pricing, and change requests
- Maintain and update internal construction cost databases
- Ensure compliance with applicable regulations, procedures, and standards
Required Qualifications
- 5+ years of experience in construction cost estimating (preferably in electrical substations)
- Degree in quantity surveying, construction management, or a related field (or equivalent experience)
- Proficiency in estimating tools such as ProEst
- Strong knowledge of labor, equipment, and material cost structures
- Experience reviewing subcontractor bids and change orders
- Excellent documentation and communication skills
