SUMMARY
Verifies and keeps records on incoming and outgoing shipments and prepares items for shipment by performing the following duties.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES include the following. Other duties may be assigned.
• Compares identifying information and counts, weighs, or measures items of incoming and outgoing shipments to verify information against bills of lading, invoices, orders, or other records.
• Determines method of shipment.
• Affixes shipping labels on packed cartons or stencils identifying shipping information on cartons.
• Inserts proper items into containers/boxes/crates.
• Nails covers on wooden crates and binds containers with strapping.
• Stamps, stencils, or glues identifying information and shipping instructions onto crates or containers.
• Posts weights and shipping charges, and affixes postage.
• Unpacks and examines incoming shipments, rejects damaged items, records shortages, and corresponds with shipper to rectify damages and shortages. Accurately count contents of received products and parts. Maintain receiving/shipping records as outlined in our procedures.
• Routes items to departments and personnel.
• Data entry in systems such as Microsoft Excel and Microsoft Word
• Examines outgoing shipments to ensure shipments meet specifications.
• Maintains inventory of shipping materials and supplies to insure adequate supplies are on hand to meet production needs.
• Regularly use hand tools in a safe manner. Such tools include but are not limited to: hand saws, drills, box cutters
• Operates forklift truck or uses hand truck to load / unload merchandise to / from trucks picking up from or delivering shipments to the loading dock.
• Operates battery operated hand truck to move, convey, or hoist shipments from shipping and receiving platform to storage or work area.
• Operates forklift truck or uses hand truck to move, transfer or transport hazardous materials and/or hazardous wastes to other locations within the facility. Unloads hazardous materials from delivery trucks and loads hazardous wastes to trucks for shipment to appropriate disposal facilities in accordance with DOT and RCRA regulations.

EDUCATION and/or EXPERIENCE
• High school diploma or general education degree (GED); or 1-3 years related experience and/or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience.
• Experience with FedEx and UPS shipping software (preferred)
The salary range for this position reflects a broad spectrum of experience levels. Individual compensation within the range is determined by multiple factors, including relevant experience, education, certifications, job related skills, internal equity, and market conditions.
