Judge Consulting Group is seeking a highly skilled Mechanical Engineer – Advanced Air Systems to support clients working on next-generation unmanned air vehicles and advanced aerospace platforms. The role involves designing, integrating, and maturing high-performance mechanical systems while collaborating with client engineering teams.
Responsibilities:
- Design, develop, and integrate mechanical hardware for unmanned air vehicles and advanced aerospace systems
- Own mechanical designs across the full development lifecycle, from concept generation through integration, test, and fielded use
- Collaborate closely with client stakeholders across mechanical, electrical, and systems engineering teams
- Apply first-principles physics to inform design decisions, trade studies, and risk reduction
- Lead and contribute to design reviews, analyses, vendor interactions, and hardware test planning
- Build and evaluate prototypes, analyze failures, and support transition into low-rate or full-rate production
- Support critical system demonstrations, design milestones, and test events as required by client programs
- Travel to customer sites, vendor facilities, or test locations as needed
Requirements:
- 5+ years of mechanical engineering experience supporting advanced aerospace or air vehicle programs
- Experience integrating mechanical and electrical subsystems into complex aerospace platforms
- Strong hands-on experience with mechanical design and CAD, including an understanding of manufacturing processes such as: Machining, Sheet metal, Composites and composite lamination, Additive manufacturing (3D printing), Injection molding
- Demonstrated ability to apply engineering first principles to real-world design challenges
- Bachelor's degree or higher in Mechanical Engineering, Aerospace Engineering, or Electrical Engineering
- Ability to work on U.S.-based programs that may require export control or security eligibility (client-specific requirements may apply)
- Experience with NX and Teamcenter
- Background developing aircraft subsystem layouts, conducting architectural trade studies, and assessing vendor technical data
- Proficiency in engineering analysis, including structural, thermal, and electrical considerations
- Experience working in a consulting or multi-program environment, supporting multiple stakeholders
