Job Description
We are seeking an experienced Transmission Line Principal Engineer to lead the design and execution of high-voltage transmission line projects supporting Wind, Solar, Battery Energy Storage, and stand-alone transmission projects. This role will oversee engineering design from concept development through construction and commissioning, working closely with engineering consultants, project managers, and cross-functional teams to ensure successful project delivery.
Key Responsibilities
- Lead transmission line engineering design for utility-scale power projects.
- Manage projects from early-stage development through execution and commissioning.
- Coordinate with engineering consultants for design deliverables and technical reviews.
- Develop project scopes, evaluate bids, and support contractor/vendor selection.
- Support route selection, geotechnical studies, survey activities, and permitting efforts.
- Review and approve engineering deliverables including:
- Issued for Bid (IFB)
- Issued for Procurement (IFP)
- Issued for Construction (IFC)
- As-built drawings
- Collaborate with internal teams including:
- Project Management
- Supply Chain
- Construction
- Cost Estimating
- Development
- Provide project updates, risk mitigation strategies, and technical presentations to leadership.
- Ensure compliance with industry standards, safety requirements, and quality expectations.
Required Qualifications
- Bachelor s degree in Electrical, Mechanical, or Civil/Structural Engineering
- 7+ years of experience in:
- High-voltage transmission line design
- Engineering
- Construction
- Utility infrastructure projects
- Strong understanding of:
- Transmission line design
- One-line and three-line diagrams
- General arrangements
- Plan and profile drawings
- Strong communication and leadership skills
- Proven analytical and problem-solving abilities
- Ability to travel within North America
Preferred Qualifications
- PMP and/or Professional Engineer (PE) certification
- Experience with:
- PLSCADD
- AutoCAD
- Primavera
- Microsoft Office Suite
- Utility or renewable energy project experience preferred
