Job Title: MS SQL Server Database Administrator
Location: Salt Lake City, UT (Hybrid)
Pay Rate: $42.55 /hr
Job/Role Description:
- This role provides primary DBA responsibilities, including support for various application development teams through advising on design, implementing solutions, and optimizing databases for the applications.
- This position serves as the MS SQL Server expert for the organization.
- This role involves evaluating and adopting new features in the latest releases of MS SQL Server.
- Work closely with engineers across all business units to design, develop, and optimize databases for diverse application workloads.
- Provide support for database (RDBMS) standardization programs from design through development and implementation.
- Perform installation, configuration, upgrade, and maintenance of the DBMS environment.
- Design and implement database security controls to safeguard organizational data.
- Provide production support, capacity planning, and contribute to building the global database infrastructure.
- Manage various OS and database-specific upgrades in Windows and Linux environments.
- Build self-service and automation tools using scripts/programs (e.g., PowerShell) to reduce manual efforts and enable low-touch offerings.
- Collaborate closely with Microsoft Engineering and Product support teams to provide feedback and new feature requirements based on the organization s development needs.
Required Qualifications
- Bachelor s degree in Computer Science or another Engineering field and 5+ years of experience in a related role
- Strong experience with database design, replication, stored procedures, SQL performance tuning, and all aspects of high-value database support for applications
- Experience with relational database development, troubleshooting, and design for highly concurrent applications
- Ability to partner effectively with application developers, negotiate solutions, and confidently influence and promote standardized database best practices
- Excellent analytical skills with the ability to understand complex issues and devise specific database solutions for global applications
- Experience working in Windows and Linux server environments
- Strong scripting skills, preferably with PowerShell or similar tools
