Employment Type Contract Note : Candidates must be local to North Carolina and possess a valid driver's license.We are seeking an experienced Technical Lead with strong expertise in AWS, ETL pipelines, Java technologies, and cloud modernization initiatives. This role will support enterprise data modernization efforts by leading technical activities across multiple data pipelines and cloud-based systems.
The ideal candidate will have extensive experience modernizing legacy applications, designing cloud-native solutions, mentoring development teams, and implementing scalable AWS-based architectures.
This role requires close collaboration with project managers, developers, business analysts, and stakeholders to ensure successful project delivery, code quality, and technical excellence.
- Provide technical leadership, guidance, and mentorship to development teams
- Support project managers by managing technical responsibilities across multiple pipelines
- Collaborate with stakeholders to gather requirements and recommend modernization strategies
- Assist teams in designing, developing, and testing Java-based cloud-native applications
- Design, build, and maintain ETL pipelines and large-scale data processing workflows
- Support data modeling, database modernization, and backend system integration
- Perform code reviews and enforce development best practices and security standards
- Assist with AWS architecture implementation and optimization
- Monitor application performance, reliability, and cost optimization
- Conduct data validation and ensure data integrity across systems
- Troubleshoot and resolve technical issues across applications and pipelines
- Work within Agile/Scrum delivery environments
- Maintain technical documentation and streamline development workflows
- Strong hands-on experience with AWS services including:
- VPC
- EC2
- S3
- Lambda
- ECS / EKS
- RDS
- API Gateway
- Glue Crawlers
- Athena
- Experience building enterprise-level Data Lakes
- Experience creating AWS ETL jobs and high-volume data pipelines
- Strong Java, J2EE, Spring Framework, and Hibernate experience
- Experience modernizing legacy applications and migrating systems to cloud-native environments
- Strong SQL skills including complex queries, debugging, and performance tuning
- Experience with relational and transactional databases
- Understanding of data modeling concepts
- Experience with DevOps practices and automation tools
- Experience working in Agile/Scrum environments
- Experience with CI/CD processes and deployment best practices
- Experience with Power BI, AWS QuickSight, or other analytics/reporting tools is a plus
- Strong leadership, mentoring, and collaboration skills
- Excellent verbal and written communication abilities
- Ability to work with technical and non-technical stakeholders effectively
- AWS Certification
- Experience with State Government projects
- Experience with Power BI or AWS QuickSight
- Experience working on large-scale enterprise modernization initiatives
- Strong experience in cloud modernization and enterprise data platforms is highly preferred.
- Candidate should be comfortable working closely with cross-functional teams and stakeholders.
- This role requires hands-on technical leadership along with architecture and delivery oversight.
