Senior COBOL Developer

Job Summary

We are hiring a Senior COBOL Developer with strong experience in banking and payments systems. This role requires deep expertise in COBOL, UNIX/AIX, and scripting, along with hands-on experience in modern and legacy payment platforms. You will work on high-volume, mission-critical payment applications supporting real-time and wire transfer processing.

Key Responsibilities

• Design, develop, and maintain COBOL-based applications in a mainframe environment
• Work in UNIX/AIX systems for job execution, monitoring, and troubleshooting
• Develop and maintain shell scripts (KSH, Bash, Perl) for automation and batch processing
• Support and enhance payment platforms including ACI MTS / ACI UPF
• Provide production support (L2/L3), incident management, and performance tuning
• Work on payment processing flows, including real-time and wire transfers
• Collaborate with cross-functional teams across business, QA, and infrastructure

Required Technical Skills

• Strong hands-on experience with COBOL development
• Solid experience with UNIX / AIX environments
• Expertise in shell scripting (KornShell, Bash, Perl)
• Experience working in high-volume transaction systems

Payments & Banking Expertise (Must Have)

• Hands-on experience with ACI MTS / ACI UPF (Universal Payments Framework)
• Strong knowledge of FedNow, Fedwire, and RTP (Real-Time Payments)
• Experience with SWIFT ecosystem, including:
  • Swift Alliance Access (SAA)
  • Swift MT / MX message formats
  • SWIFT yearly standards upgrades
• Familiarity with ISO 20022 messaging standards
• Experience with Fiserv EPP (Enterprise Payments Platform) is a plus
• Strong understanding of wire transfer processing and payment lifecycle
