About this role
Capgemini is seeking a GCP Data Engineer who will serve as a primary development resource responsible for designing, developing, and maintaining GCP data solutions. The role involves collaborating with various teams to create scalable technical solutions and establishing best practices in API engineering and data security.
Responsibilities:
- Design, build, and support GCP‑based data platforms and pipelines for enterprise‑wide analytics
- Collaborate with data engineers, architects, scientists, and stakeholders to translate business requirements into scalable technical solutions
- Design and develop high‑quality, modular, reusable APIs aligned with enterprise standards and best practices
- Implement automated workflows to reduce operational overhead and uphold data SLAs
- Enable self‑service data capabilities including dashboards, data catalog, and discovery tools
- Lead and support unit, integration, and performance testing initiatives
- Promote data security best practices aligned with regulatory and legal requirements
- Mentor and coach engineers within Agile teams on complex data and API projects
- Drive adoption of CI/CD, modern development tools, and cloud‑native practices
- Participate in architecture reviews, technical discussions, and continuous improvement initiatives
- Evangelize data engineering best practices across the organization and participate in community forums
Requirements:
- 5+ years of experience as a Data Engineer
- 3+ years of hands‑on experience with API development
- 10+ years of overall IT experience
- Strong hands‑on experience with GCP services including BigQuery, Cloud Run, GKE, Cloud Functions, Cloud SQL, Spanner, Bigtable, and Cloud Logging
- Experience with API platforms such as Apigee and frameworks including FastAPI
- Strong programming experience in Python, Java, or Scala
- Experience with Spark Streaming, Kafka, SQL, JSON, Avro, and Parquet
- Strong understanding of CI/CD, Git/GitHub, and Agile methodologies
- Master's degree in Computer Science or a related field
- GCP Professional Data Engineer certification
- Experience with AI/ML solutions using Vertex AI and NLP technologies
