Integer Technologies is an applied research and product development company focused on innovation for national security. The Senior Electrical Engineer will lead the design and implementation of multi-physics models and digital twins for electrical power and energy systems, collaborating with cross-functional teams to enhance system reliability and mission effectiveness.
Responsibilities:
- Develop & Validate Multi Domain Models: Build and validate physics-based models using tools such as MATLAB/Simulink or directly using scientific Python libraries, for turbines, generators, converters, switchgear, advanced controls and energy storage systems
- Create & Maintain Digital Twins: Architect digital twin systems that integrate real time data, sensor fusion, optimization algorithms, and predictive analytics to emulate, analyze, and improve the performance of power systems within defense platforms
- Research Emerging Techniques: Investigate advanced multi-physics coupling methods, reduced order modeling, and AI/ML modeling strategies to improve the speed of solutions and accuracy for mission critical analyses
- Collaborate Across Disciplines: Work closely with electrical engineers, controls specialists, cybersecurity teams, and program managers to align deliverables with overall system architecture and program goals and timelines
- Document & Communicate Findings: Produce detailed design documentation, verification reports, and technical briefs for internal stakeholders, military, and commercial customers
- Implement Engineering Best Practices: Apply best practices for version control, software source control, automated testing, CI/CD workflows, and configuration management to modeling and simulation codebases
Requirements:
- Must be a U.S. Citizen with the ability to obtain and maintain a DoW Secret Clearance (eligibility for Top Secret is a plus)
- Bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, Aerospace Engineering, or a closely related technical discipline
- 5+ years of professional experience using modeling tools such as MATLAB/Simulink
- 3+ years of professional experience developing models and/or digital twins for integrated electrical power systems, including generators, motors, batteries, power electronics, and switchgear
- Proficiency in at least one general programming language (e.g., Python, C/C++, Java)
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills; ability to produce clear technical reports and give concise briefings to internal, military and commercial stakeholders
- Master's or PhD in relevant engineering or computer science discipline
- Knowledge of modeling electrical plant controls, battery management systems (BMS), and energy storage systems
- Experience with real-time simulation platforms (OpalRT, Speedgoat, Typhoon) and hardware in the loop (HIL) simulation
- Deep technical knowledge of simulation solver technologies and numerical integration methods with demonstrated experience applying industry best practices for achieving numerically stable, reliable simulations
- Familiarity with AI/ML frameworks for blackbox or reduced order model development
