Alpha Consulting Corp. is seeking a Cloud Infrastructure & Operations Engineer to join DIRECTV’s UCWE Cloud Operations organization. This role is responsible for delivering secure, scalable, and cost optimized cloud environments across Azure, AWS, Client 365, and Entra ID, while also serving as a technical leader and governance authority over cloud operations.

Responsibilities:

• Manage Organizations & Management Groups across Azure and AWS
• Oversee Windows Domain Services, including identity integrations and directory hygiene
• Administer App & Service Principal registrations and lifecycle management
• Act as Azure Enrollment Admin / AWS Master Payer, ensuring proper account hierarchy, ownership, and billing structure
• Define and maintain architecture standards, reference architectures, and best practices
• Support and enhance Azure & AWS DevOps pipelines, CI/CD tooling, and automation frameworks
• Develop and maintain Terraform modules and pipeline automation for IaC deployments
• Provide engineering oversight and architectural direction for Client-delivered builds, pipelines, IaC modules, and environments
• Troubleshoot various connectivity, authentication, networking, or resource availability issues across cloud platforms
• Provide first-line enablement to application teams and coordinate escalations with Client
• Support Bastion onboarding and secure-access patterns
• Provide Azure/AWS SDBA (Storage/Database/Backup & related infra) support
• Produce cloud cost estimates, resource sizing recommendations, and optimization suggestions
• Lead or support Cloud Builds, infrastructure provisioning, and production cutovers
• Participate in Application Migrations (On prem → Cloud; Cloud → Cloud)
• Contribute to Change Management for cloud infrastructure and cloud security
• Assist with patching strategies for cloud-native and hybrid workloads
• Maintain and enforce policies for CSP & SaaS approval flows
• Define and refine organizational cloud policies, including RBAC, configuration baselines, resource limits, and guardrails
• Drive organization wide governance to ensure consistent, secure use of cloud resources
• Maintain and evolve naming standards & tagging frameworks
• Document, track, and manage policy exceptions, including exception sunset timelines
• Publish high quality training content, documentation, newsletters, and videos to support cloud literacy across DIRECTV
• Perform AWS & Azure account creation, subscription configuration, and landing zone onboarding
• Onboard new environments to Astra and relevant internal platforms
• Define initial ownership, RBAC assignments, and baseline configuration
• Capture required metadata to enable Compliance, FinOps, and Security visibility
• Assist with iTAP ID creation, app registration, and access workflows
• Deliver analytics, reporting, dashboards, and consumption insights across cloud services
• Track subscription onboarding and ensure financial visibility from Day 1
• Monitor spend, detect anomalies, and drive remediation actions
• Identify repeating issues, drive closure of systemic cost gaps, and refine FinOps playbooks
• Support Quicksight dashboards, budget creation, and forecasting cycles
• Mature DIRECTV’s FinOps practices in partnership with Client
• Enforce cloud governance, policy adherence, and operational guardrails
• Monitor deployments for policy violations, misconfigurations, and drift
• Provide training and hands-on education to teams to improve compliance
• Partner with app teams to resolve issues and bring workloads into compliance
• Support compliance attestations (e.g., SOX, PCI, SPI)
• Provide solution architecture support to internal cloud consumers
• Deliver consulting services for onboarding, workload design, and modernization
• Maintain a rich SharePoint knowledge base, including runbooks, patterns, and training materials
• Partner with enterprise architecture and platform teams to guide cloud maturity
• As DIRECTV’s primary cloud operations partner, Client executes significant portions of cloud onboarding, engineering, DevOps, support, compliance, and FinOps
• Direct Client’s day-to-day cloud work in alignment with DIRECTV standards, priorities, and architectural direction
• Ensure Client follows DIRECTV’s engineering patterns, security baselines, and governance policies
• Review and approve output from Client (pipelines, IaC modules, cloud builds, onboarding packages, documentation)
• Ensure accuracy and consistency across environments built or maintained by Client
• Coordinate operational handoffs, escalations, and work intake with Client
• Ensure Client meets SLA/KPI objectives across cloud support, DevOps, onboarding, and cost management
• Engage Client leadership in quarterly/continuous improvement discussions
• Guide Client’s work toward improving cloud maturity, automation, and efficiency
• Support roadmap alignment for major cloud initiatives

Requirements:

• 5+ years in cloud infrastructure/operations/engineering roles
• Proficiency with Azure, AWS, Entra ID, DevOps pipelines, Terraform, and cloud networking
• Experience directing or collaborating with large-scale managed services partners
• Strong understanding of cloud governance, FinOps, and identity
• Strong communicator — capable of leading partners and influencing internal stakeholders
• Azure or AWS Architect certifications
• FinOps Practitioner certification
• Experience with large-scale platform migrations (cloud or on-prem)
• Knowledge of compliance frameworks (SOX, PCI, ISO)
