Job Description:
- We are seeking an experienced IoT Lead / Architect to take end-to-end technical ownership of a large-scale connected IoT platform in production, ensuring its stability, scalability, and operational excellence across devices, firmware, cloud services, mobile applications, and integrations.
- This role operates as the Platform Owner for Production Systems, responsible for maintaining system integrity across the entire IoT ecosystem, driving technical decisions during live system conditions, and identifying systemic gaps in architecture, observability, and operations.
- You will act as the primary engineering authority for platform health, working across Cloud, Mobile, Firmware, NOC, Support, and Product teams to ensure the system behaves as a cohesive, reliable platform not disconnected components.
- This is not a ticket-based support role. It is a system ownership role focused on platform stability, cross-functional engineering alignment, and continuous system improvement at scale.
Key Responsibilities:
Platform Ownership & System Integrity
- Own end-to-end platform behavior in production across:
o Device Firmware Cloud Mobile Integrations
- Ensure the system operates as a unified, consistent platform, not siloed components
- Identify and address systemic design gaps, integration issues, and operational weaknesses
- Drive alignment across engineering teams to maintain platform-wide consistency and reliability
Platform Evolution & Continuous Improvement
- Identify recurring issues and drive system-level improvements
- Improve observability, system resilience, integration patterns, and operational workflows
- Establish standards for:
o Issue intake quality
o RCA rigor
o Cross-team ownership
Ensure that the platform improves over time, not just reacts to issues
Create & execute plans for reducing tech-debt
Technology Environment
Cloud & Platform
- AWS (compute, networking, deployments, monitoring)
- ClearBlade IoT Platform
- Datadog (logs, metrics, tracing, incident analysis)
- MongoDB or similar NoSQL databases
IoT & Messaging
- MQTT-based device communication
- Device telemetry and command/control patterns
- Understanding of firmware interaction and device lifecycle concepts
Applications & APIs
- RESTful and event-driven APIs
- Mobile application interaction with cloud platforms
- Familiarity with iOS/Android release lifecycles and crash analysis concepts
Qualifications
Required
- Bachelor s degree in Computer Science, Engineering, or related field
- 10+ years of experience in IoT platforms, distributed systems, or cloud-native architecture.
- Production system ownership and incident leadership
- Debugging complex, multi-layer system issues
- Root cause analysis and resolution ownership
- Strong communication and decision-making skills under pressure
Preferred
- Experience with large-scale IoT or connected device platforms
- Strong architectural design & refactoring experience
- Background in telecom, industrial IoT, or consumer electronics ecosystems
- Experience working with NOC, customer support, and customer-facing teams
