Our client is seeking an Analyst, IT Financial Operations provides advanced hands-on financial planning and analytical support across the Firm s technology portfolio. This role supports budgeting, forecasting, project financial analysis, and reporting activities while strengthening financial transparency and operational discipline. The Analyst applies strong financial judgment to validate assumptions, identify risks, and translate complex financial data into clear insights that support informed decision-making.
Reporting to the Associate Director, the Analyst serves as a core execution resource within IT Financial Operations and a trusted financial partner to IT stakeholders. This role helps maintain governance standards, improves financial processes, and ensures accuracy and consistency across portfolio financial activities while collaborating closely with IT leadership, Vendor Management, Procurement, and Firm Finance.
Essential Functions (This list is not exhaustive and may be supplemented and changed as necessary.):
Budgeting, Forecasting & Financial Support:
- Maintain portfolio financial models, planning trackers, and budget files to support consistent financial governance.
- Track actuals versus budget and forecast, preparing structured variance analysis and highlighting key drivers.
- Support reforecasting cycles by gathering inputs, validating data, and updating financial models.
- Ensure accuracy, completeness, and consistency of financial planning data.
- Assist stakeholders with financial tracking and interpretation of budget performance.
Project & Investment Financial Analysis:
- Develop project cost estimates across labor, infrastructure, licensing, and vendor services.
- Support preparation of business case financial models and investment analyses.
- Assist in evaluating financial implications of project alternatives.
- Align project financial data with governance and intake workflows.
- Identify discrepancies or gaps in project financial assumptions and escalate as appropriate.
Financial Operations, Controls & Reporting:
- Maintain accurate tracking of portfolio spend and commitments.
- Support reconciliations and ensure documentation is audit-ready.
- Produce recurring financial reports and summaries.
- Monitor spend patterns and flag irregularities for review.
- Ensure reporting outputs are accurate and consistent.
Vendor & Contract Financial Support:
- Assist in validating vendor financial documentation and contract consumption.
- Track vendor spend against forecast and budget expectations.
- Maintain accurate vendor financial records and supporting documentation.
- Coordinate with Procurement and Vendor Management on financial inputs.
- Support financial review of renewals and adjustments.
Process Improvement & Stakeholder Support:
- Maintain standardized financial templates, trackers, and governance tools.
- Support FinOps initiatives by assisting with cloud spend tracking and reporting.
- Support initiatives that improve financial data quality and consistency.
- Provide day-to-day financial guidance to IT stakeholders.
- Promote adoption of established financial governance practices.
Other Functions:
- Any other related functions/duties as assigned by management. Functions may vary based on project and Information Technology department needs.
Qualifications:
- Education, Work Experience, Skills
Required:
- Bachelor s degree in Finance, Accounting, Business Administration, or a related field.
- 4 6 years of progressive experience in financial analysis, budgeting, accounting, or IT financial support.
- Experience supporting technology organizations, IT PMOs, or enterprise financial planning functions.
- Strong understanding of IT cost structures, including infrastructure, cloud, software licensing, labor, managed services, and project financials.
- Prior experience with IT budgeting, forecasting, and technology financial operations.
- Advanced financial modeling and analytical capabilities (Excel, Power BI, or similar tools).
- Familiarity with project governance and intake processes.
- Strong analytical and problem-solving skills with the ability to interpret and communicate financial data clearly to both technical and non-technical audiences.
- Experience working with Finance and Procurement teams, including invoice processing and financial coordination.
- High attention to detail with strong organizational skills.
- Strong written and verbal communication skills.
Preferred:
- Experience with cloud cost management and FinOps-related concepts.
- Experience evaluating managed services or vendor financial proposals.
- Prior exposure to structured project review processes (e.g., charters, estimation, readiness assessments, budget validation).
- Experience in a consulting role involving financial analysis, modeling, or advisory support.
- Consulting, professional services, or legal industry experience is a plus.
Technologies/Software:
- Strong proficiency in Microsoft Excel (pivot tables, vLookups, formulas, data manipulation).
- Experience with financial or P2P systems (e.g., Coupa).
- Exposure to reporting tools such as Power BI or similar (preferred).
Salary/Rate: $50-$65/HR (depends on experience level). This is a contract position with candidates expected to work 40 hours/ week. Upon conversion Salary would be $90,000 - $110,000 (depending on experience level), plus benefits.
