Raytheon is a leading aerospace and defense company that is seeking systems engineering co-ops as part of their Cooperative Education Program. This part-time, remote role is aimed at senior or postgraduate students in STEM fields, where participants will engage in system engineering analyses, requirements definition, and support various testing activities.
Responsibilities:
- Analyze and define how the system works creating use cases
- Decompose requirements, define system interfaces and help determine how requirements will be validated and verified by the test team
- Support planning and execution of Integration, Verification, or Flight Test activities in our labs, in the field, or at a test range
- Support qualification of our products
- Support troubleshooting and failure data analyses, including root cause and corrective action processes and advanced use of lab or field test equipment
- Complete and compile detailed performance evaluations, including the use of analysis tools, such as MATLAB
- Prepare and present results in reports and briefings to internal or external stakeholders
- Support and attend technical reviews and technical interchanges in support of the program
- Be a self-starter and work well with minimum supervision
Requirements:
- The ability to obtain and maintain a U.S. government issued security clearance is required
- U.S. citizenship is required, as only U.S. citizens are eligible for a security clearance
- Active and existing security clearance required after day 1
- Enrolled in a Bachelor's or Master's of Science, Technology, Engineering, or Mathematics (STEM) degree program with an expected graduation date of May 2027 or August 2027
- Academic or internship experience that included hands-on testing of electronic equipment
- Exposure to troubleshooting technical issues with electronics in an academic or internship setting, or as part of a hobby
- Exposure to data analysis using tools such as MATLAB
- Specific majors: Systems Engineering or related scientific or STEM discipline
- 3.00 cumulative GPA or higher
- Proficient use of both Windows and UNIX platform
- Experience with Perl, Python, VBA, and/or other scripting languages
- Exposure to Agile Development Principles
- Knowledge of the Microsoft Office suite
- Previous internship experience
- Ability to analyze issues and define solutions
- Knowledge of systems engineering lifecycle, roles and functions
- Proven strong analytical skills and problem-solving abilities
- Basic Engineering skills and interest in how systems are developed and function
- Ability to multi-task in a fast-paced work environment
- Ability to problem solve and seek out additional resources
- Demonstrated ability to work effectively with others (or coworkers)
