About this role
CDW is seeking an experienced Veeam Backup & Replication Architect/Engineer to lead and support enterprise backup initiatives across multiple client engagements. The role involves scoping, designing, and implementing robust data protection solutions with a strong emphasis on Veeam technologies.
Responsibilities:
- Conduct detailed discovery sessions with clients to assess existing backup and DR environments
- Identify gaps, risks, and improvement opportunities across data protection posture
- Produce scoping documents, SOWs, and effort estimates for Veeam-based projects
- Architect Veeam Backup & Replication solutions aligned with client RTO/RPO objectives
- Design high-availability, scale-out backup repository, and immutability strategies
- Develop HLD/LLD documentation including topology diagrams and runbooks
- Advise on integration with Azure Blob, Azure Site Recovery, and cloud-tier configurations
- Deploy, configure, and optimize Veeam environments (VBR, VONE, VB365, Veeam Backup for Azure)
- Configure backup jobs, replication, CDP, SureBackup, and Instant VM Recovery
- Migrate legacy backup solutions to Veeam-based architectures
- Integrate Veeam with VMware vSphere, Microsoft Hyper-V, and Azure workloads
- Troubleshoot and resolve complex Veeam issues across physical, virtual, and cloud environments
- Perform backup health checks, capacity planning, and performance tuning
- Develop operational runbooks, DR playbooks, and client-facing documentation
- Mentor junior engineers and serve as a technical escalation point
Requirements:
- Experience with Veeam Backup & Replication in enterprise environments
- Hands-on experience with VBR v11/v12, Veeam ONE, VB365, and Veeam Backup for Azure
- Strong knowledge of VMware vSphere 7/8 and Microsoft Hyper-V
- Experience with scale-out repositories, dedup appliances (HPE, Dell EMC, ExaGrid), and S3-compatible storage
- Solid networking fundamentals: TCP/IP, VLANs, firewall rules for backup traffic
- Windows Server 2019/2022 and Linux (RHEL/Ubuntu) for repository configuration
- Strong client-facing communication, scoping, and documentation skills
- Azure cloud experience is a strong differentiator. Desired skills include:
- Veeam Backup for Microsoft Azure — deployment, policy configuration, and snapshot management
- Azure Blob storage tiering integrated with Veeam Scale-Out Backup Repository
- Azure Site Recovery (ASR) design and integration alongside Veeam replication
- Azure IaaS architecture: VNets, NSGs, storage accounts, managed disks
- Hybrid connectivity: ExpressRoute / VPN Gateway for backup traffic offload
- Azure AD / Entra ID integration for RBAC and Veeam console access
- Microsoft 365 backup via Veeam Backup for Microsoft 365 (Teams, SharePoint, Exchange Online)
- VMCE — Veeam Certified Engineer
- VMCA — Veeam Certified Architect
- VCP-DCV — VMware Certified Professional
- Microsoft AZ-104 — Azure Administrator
- Microsoft AZ-305 — Azure Solutions Architect
- Microsoft MS-102 or equivalent M365 certification
