Platform Architects (Customer-Facing)
Platform Architects are the primary customer-facing role across both DSM and VKS engagements. They lead discovery and assessment workshops with the customer, define the target architecture and migration plan, and provide technical leadership throughout the engagement lifecycle. This role is the entry point for every Advanced Services project.
Key Responsibilities:
- Lead customer-facing discovery sessions and technical assessments to evaluate current environment, workload profiles, and migration readiness
- Design target-state architecture for DSM-based database migrations and/or VKS application modernization, aligned with the customer s VCF foundation
- Develop detailed migration plans with phasing, risk assessment, rollback strategies, and success criteria
- Define t-shirt sizing for engagements and produce Proof of Value (POV) proposals and Statements of Work (SOW)
- Act as the technical authority for the engagement bridging the customer, the delivery team, and Broadcom stakeholders
- Conduct architecture reviews and provide recommendations on platform design, networking, storage, and security
- Drive knowledge transfer to customer teams and produce executive-level documentation and deliverables
Required Skills:
- End-to-end VMware Cloud Foundation (VCF) architecture: workload domains, vSAN, NSX-T, supervisor clusters
- VMware Data Services Manager (DSM): architecture, deployment patterns, and integration with database migration workflows
- VMware Kubernetes Services (VKS) / Tanzu: cluster topology, multi-tenancy, and workload domain design for containerized applications
- Application modernization strategy: monolith decomposition, microservices patterns, strangler fig approach, containerization assessment
- Database migration planning: cross-engine migration strategies (Oracle/MSSQL to PostgreSQL), schema conversion approaches, data replication patterns
- Observability and operations architecture: PrometheGrafana, distributed tracing, centralized logging, VCF Operations
- Compliance and governance frameworks for FSI environments (PCI-DSS, SOX, GDPR, data sovereignty)
- Strong customer-facing skills: workshop facilitation, stakeholder management, executive presentations, and whiteboarding sessions
Required Certifications: VCDX (any track) or VCAP-DCV Deploy/Design (minimum). Enterprise architecture certifications (TOGAF) or cloud-native certifications (KCNA) are a plus.
