Field Controls Engineer

GrayMatter is a company that transforms operations and empowers people by helping industrial companies modernize their production environments. They are seeking a highly skilled Field Controls Engineer to take ownership of complex, on-site control systems work across the country, focusing on delivering field services, designing solutions, and training users.

Responsibilities:

• Deliver GrayMatter field services with a strong focus on industrial control systems
• Design, develop, and implement solutions that resolve customer issues efficiently
• Train and consult with end users on new applications and system functionality
• Support project planning, development, and documentation
• Perform on‑site pilots, FAT/SAT testing, and system demonstrations
• Travel independently to customer sites 75–90% of the time

Requirements:

• Bachelor's degree in EE, EET, ME, MET, or equivalent experience/training
• Hands‑on experience with industrial PLC programming (Rockwell, Siemens, Modicon, etc.)
• Rockwell PLC experience is required
• Strong background in control system design, implementation, installation, and troubleshooting
• Ability to read and understand electrical schematics
• Exceptional attention to detail and process accuracy
• Strong problem‑solving and technical research skills
• Professional, customer‑focused communication style
• Ability to work independently in the field and collaborate effectively with remote teams

• Machine Vision Systems (Cognex, Keyence)
• Industry experience in Pharma, Food & Beverage, Packaging, or Material Handling
