About this role
Aptyx is seeking a highly skilled IT Project Engineer to support and lead infrastructure and security projects across the organization. This role will be responsible for planning, designing, and implementing IT projects, requiring strong technical expertise and excellent project execution skills.
Responsibilities:
- Lead and execute IT infrastructure, cloud, security, and application projects from design through completion
- Translate business and technical requirements into scalable, secure technical solutions
- Own project timelines, deliverables, risks, and dependencies in coordination with IT leadership
- Provide hands-on engineering support for implementations, migrations, upgrades, and remediations
- Work alongside our MSP in a co-managed IT model
- Take ownership of internal project execution previously handled by MSP project resources
- Review MSP designs, validate recommendations, and ensure alignment with internal standards
- Act as a technical escalation point for complex issues and projects
- Create and maintain technical documentation, diagrams, and runbooks
- Help define and enforce IT standards, architectures, and best practices
- Ensure projects meet security, compliance, and operational requirements
- Partner with internal stakeholders to understand business needs and constraints
- Provide clear project status updates to IT leadership
- Mentor junior IT staff as appropriate
Requirements:
- 5+ years of hands-on IT infrastructure or systems engineering experience
- Proven experience leading large-scale or cross-functional IT initiatives
- Strong working knowledge of Microsoft enterprise environments
- Advanced knowledge of security architecture, networking and cloud services
- Ability to work independently and manage multiple projects simultaneously
- Experience designing solutions, not just implementing them
- Strong vendor management and technical leadership skills
- Microsoft (Azure, M365, Security)
- Cisco, SonicWALL, or other networking certifications
- Security certifications (Security+, CISSP, etc.)
- ITIL or project management certifications
