Senior Backend Engineer

Halo AI is building AI-native risk intelligence systems that process large volumes of external and customer-provided data. They are seeking a Senior Backend Engineer to enhance the reliability, scalability, and architectural quality of their backend systems while taking ownership of critical services and infrastructure areas.

Responsibilities:

• Own and improve critical backend services, APIs, data pipelines, and infrastructure components
• Design and implement scalable, reliable, and maintainable backend systems
• Review backend merge requests with a focus on correctness, testing, edge cases, performance, security, and long-term maintainability
• Identify technical debt, duplicated logic, fragile patterns, operational risks, and under-tested code paths
• Improve database access patterns, caching strategies, asynchronous processing, observability, and operational reliability
• Help evolve service boundaries and system decomposition as the platform scales
• Translate product and platform requirements into durable backend designs
• Write and review unit, integration, and failure-mode tests
• Drive backend engineering standards and influence long-term architectural direction
• Help document backend patterns, architecture decisions, and implementation standards
• Clearly communicate architectural risks, tradeoffs, and recommendations
• Mentor engineers through code reviews, design discussions, and implementation planning
• Own services in production, including monitoring, debugging, incident investigation, and operational improvements
