Senior Bioinformatics Engineer

Helix is on a mission to improve lives through DNA and transform healthcare by integrating genomic data into clinical practice. As a Senior Bioinformatics Engineer, you will develop and maintain bioinformatics pipelines, architect infrastructure in AWS, and contribute to regulatory documentation in a highly regulated environment.

Responsibilities:

• Develop, maintain, and document bioinformatics pipelines in a regulated environment
• Architect and maintain supporting infrastructure in AWS
• Analyze and generate data insights to support the development and improvements of existing and new bioinformatics algorithms
• Design and develop test cases and test scripts
• Contribute to the creation and maintenance of regulatory documentation as part of the design control process

Requirements:

• B.S. or M.S. Technical Degree (e.g. Computer Science, Bioinformatics or similar)
• 3 years of relevant industry experience
• Experience with developing NGS bioinformatics pipelines
• Proficiency with Python
• Experience with Cloud computing environment
• Strong communication skills, both oral and written
• Open to learning new skills and not afraid to step outside of the comfort zone
• Experience with software development under CLIA/CAP regulations and/or FDA regulations is a big plus
• Experience writing test cases and test scripts
• Experience with Jira and JAMA
• Experience with Claude Code and development with AI
