Ferguson is a leading provider of quality supplies across various industries. The Product Assurance Engineer will support the Product Assurance team by ensuring products meet quality and compliance standards, managing projects, and facilitating improvements in products and processes.
Responsibilities:
- Work with other engineers and analysts on a cohesive team to accomplish goals and proactively drive product quality and compliance from the inception stage
- Manage larger projects within Product Assurance which require cross functional coordination within Ferguson groups, as well as outside the organization
- Offer outstanding customer service to internal and external customers with product assurance related issues. Develop benchmarks, reporting, and analysis for specific product categories
- Ensure processes such as vendor onboarding (Stage Gate) are followed at the product / sourcing inception stage so that product quality and compliance targets are met
- Monitor, document, and report product quality issues and draft product advisories and recalls
- Provide technical support to downstream customers by coordinating product inspections or product testing to support root cause analysis
- Participate in or lead vendor quality audits as needed and support inspections
- Work with vendors to implement corrective actions and develop product improvements
- Review nonconformance data and make data-driven decisions for best resolutions
- Lead the Own Brand certification program for specific categories, ensuring products are properly tested, labeled, and marked as required and are safe for consumer and contractor use in the market
- Work with third party certification and testing agencies to make sure specific Own Brand products are properly certified. Examples: UL, ETL, FM, CSA, ASME, NEC, ASTM, ANSI, MSS, NFPA, NSF, etc
- Research industry compliance regulations and policies at federal and state level
- Create and/or revise compliance policies and related documentation, including standard operating procedures, spec sheets, product certification databases, etc
- Communicate compliance policies and guidelines to category management, legal and designated departments
Requirements:
- Bachelor's degree is required with preference in an engineering field. Demonstrated quality assurance or compliance experience will be considered
- Experience with quality tools, such as six sigma, lean manufacturing, FMEA, and root cause analysis (8D, 5Why, etc.)
- Knowledge of industry compliance requirements including ASME, ASTM, ANSI, MSS, NSF, NFPA, CSA, ETL, NEC, DOE, CEC, Energy Star, UL approvals, etc
- Knowledge of Consumer Product Safety Commission (CPSC) rules, regulations, and processes regarding recalls
- Ability to analyze complex issues and produce working solutions
