Draft, review, and negotiate a wide range of commercial contracts, including insurance carrier agreements and client agreements
Advise internal business teams on contractual obligations, risk management, and compliance related to commercial transactions
Lead B2B negotiations to ensure favorable terms while maintaining strong business relationships
Collaborate cross-functionally with sales, compliance, risk management, procurement, finance, and operations to support business objectives
Provide legal support for contract lifecycle management, including amendments, renewals, and dispute resolution
Stay current on relevant laws, regulations, and industry best practices impacting commercial transactions
Embed within the business to understand the objectives of the business unit(s) and the key elements driving profitability
Identify potential legal risks and/or impacts to existing businesses, new ventures, and products, as appropriate
Requirements
Bachelor’s degree and Juris Doctor (JD) from an accredited law school
Active law license in good standing
Minimum of 2-4 years of experience in a law firm or corporate legal department providing counsel on business and contractual matters—ideally within the insurance or technology industry
Strong drafting and negotiation skills for complex commercial agreements
Highly autonomous and self‑motivated, with sound judgment and the ability to manage multiple priorities with urgency
Ability to understand business strategy and basic financial considerations
Strong knowledge of B2B agreements, risk assessment, and operational impacts
Ability to quickly evaluate complex legal/regulatory issues and recommend sound courses of action
Excellent oral and written communication skills, with the ability to influence and advise at all organizational levels
