This role involves building channel strategies, partnering with various teams, and ensuring content effectively engages developers to drive product adoption.
Responsibilities:
- Lead GitHub's developer content strategy across awareness, consideration, and adoption — including briefs, timelines, and editorial planning
- Create and edit content that hits a high quality bar and focuses on topics developers care about
- Translate developer insights and product telemetry into actionable messaging, content themes, and campaigns that drive activation and retention
- Partner with Product and PMM to align positioning, messaging, and campaigns designed to sustain product engagement
- Work with Lifecycle to build onboarding, nurture, and reactivation email series
- Build content strategy to support paid media and creative execution
- Define and measure success by analyzing KPIs across campaigns, products, and revenue outcomes
- Identify patterns in developer engagement and behavior to refine strategy and improve how developers interact with products over time
- Present findings and recommendations to stakeholders, including senior leadership, to inform decision-making
- Guide how campaign assets come to life across channels (web, lifecycle, paid media, events), ensuring consistency and relevance
- Act as a quality bar for how campaigns show up to developers — flagging when messaging feels overly promotional, abstract, or disconnected from real usage
Requirements:
- 7+ years experience in content writing, content design, journalism, or related field OR Bachelor's Degree in English, Writing, Literature, Journalism, Communications, Marketing, Philosophy, or related field AND 5+ years experience in content writing, content design, journalism, or related field OR equivalent experience
- 1+ year(s) experience leading cross-functional projects with multiple stakeholders/teams (e.g., Developer Relations, Product Marketing, Communications, Executive Communications, Demand Generation) or establishing processes in cross-functional projects
- Experience marketing to developer audiences, including campaigns that influence product adoption or usage
- Background in Developer Relations, technical writing or developer content creation
