EXL is a company focused on data management and engineering, and they are seeking a Fabric Data Engineer. The role involves designing, developing, and maintaining scalable data solutions using Microsoft Fabric, along with building and managing data ingestion and transformation pipelines.
Responsibilities:
- Design, develop, and maintain scalable data solutions using Microsoft Fabric
- Build and manage data ingestion and transformation pipelines using Fabric Pipelines and Dataflows Gen2
- Develop ETL/ELT processes using PySpark, Spark SQL, and SQL
- Implement and support Lakehouse and Data Warehouse solutions
- Design and maintain medallion architecture (Bronze/Silver/Gold layers)
- Create and optimize semantic models for Microsoft Power BI reporting and analytics
- Support Direct Lake and other Fabric analytical capabilities
- Monitor production jobs, troubleshoot failures, and perform root cause analysis
Requirements:
- 4-8 years of experience in Data Engineering and Analytics Engineering
- Hands-on experience with Microsoft Fabric
- Strong SQL development skills
- Experience with PySpark or Spark SQL
- Experience building ETL/ELT pipelines
- Understanding of Lakehouse and Data Warehouse concepts
- Familiarity with Power BI and semantic modeling
- Experience with cloud platforms, preferably Microsoft Azure
- Knowledge of Git/version control practices
- Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Information Systems, Engineering, or related field
- Experience with Medallion architecture (Bronze/Silver/Gold)
- Experience with Dataflows Gen2
- Experience with Fabric Pipelines
- Experience with OneLake
- Experience with Delta tables
- Experience with Direct Lake
- Exposure to Azure Data Factory
- Exposure to Databricks
- Exposure to ADLS Gen2
- Exposure to Event driven architectures
- Understanding of monitoring and observability practices
- Knowledge of data governance and security best practices
- Microsoft Certified: Fabric Analytics Engineer Associate (DP-600)
- DP-203 or PL-300 certification is a plus
