Charter Solutions is seeking a Sr Data Engineer responsible for designing, developing, and maintaining enterprise data solutions that support business intelligence and analytics. The role involves building robust data pipelines, optimizing database performance, and mentoring junior engineers to drive high-impact data initiatives.
Responsibilities:
- Design, develop, and deliver end-to-end data solutions, including architecture design, proof-of-concept development, testing, and deployment
- Build and maintain data pipelines and ETL processes using tools such as SSIS and Azure Data Factory
- Optimize performance across database environments and ensure data integrity and reliability
- Collaborate with product managers, QA, and business stakeholders to translate business needs into scalable technical solutions
- Support and maintain enterprise data warehouse systems in alignment with business requirements
- Coach and mentor junior data engineers, providing guidance on project planning, development, and best practices
- Ensure adherence to data governance, security, and compliance standards
- Assist in day-to-day operational support and troubleshooting for data systems and workflows
- Communicate effectively across cross-functional teams, both verbally and in writing
Requirements:
- 5+ years of experience in a data engineering or related data-focused role
- Advanced proficiency in SQL (preferably T-SQL) for writing and optimizing complex queries
- Proven experience with data warehouse design, data modeling, and ETL development
- Deep understanding of relational database design and performance optimization
- Experience supporting the full development lifecycle — from requirements gathering to deployment and documentation
- Strong analytical and problem-solving abilities, with a proactive and results-oriented mindset
- Excellent communication and collaboration skills, with experience working in cross-functional teams
- Familiarity with financial or mortgage servicing data preferred but not required
- Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Information Systems, or related field preferred; equivalent hands-on experience accepted
