American Express is a global financial services company, and they are seeking a Director for their Tech Workforce Strategy. This role involves leading the design and execution of enterprise workforce strategies, serving as a trusted advisor to senior leadership, and driving alignment through data-driven decision-making and innovative workforce planning.
Responsibilities:
- Strategic Workforce Advisory
- Partner with the SLT and their direct reports to develop forward-looking workforce strategies aligned to ETS priorities and enterprise technology demand
- Translate business and technology strategy into actionable workforce plans
- Lead high-impact, executive-level engagements on topics such as workforce transformation, location strategy, and talent investment
- Workforce Planning & Insights
- Build and scale intelligent workforce planning capabilities using predictive analytics and AI-driven insights
- Deliver scenario modeling to inform hiring decisions and talent investments
- Oversee a continuous planning approach that adapts to changing business and technology needs
- Future-Ready Workforce & Skills Strategy
- Partner with internal stakeholders to design skill strategies, including skill sensing, workforce segmentation, and reimagining how ETS works using AI and skills of the future
- Leadership & Influence
- Lead and mentor a high-performing team of workforce strategy professionals
- Influence across a highly matrixed organization, driving alignment and execution without direct authority
- Deliver compelling communications, including executive-level materials and strategic narratives
Requirements:
- 10+ years of experience in workforce strategy, management consulting, or technology strategy
- Proven experience advising senior executives (CIO/CTO-level) on workforce, operating model, or transformation initiatives
- Strong analytical and data-driven decision-making skills, including experience with forecasting and scenario modeling
- Track record of driving large-scale transformation, productivity improvement, or operating model change
- Exceptional executive communication and storytelling skills
- MBA or equivalent advanced degree
- Experience in financial services, FinTech, or large-scale enterprise technology organizations
- Familiarity with AI-enabled workforce planning, Agile delivery, and Lean Portfolio Management
