NextGen Invent, an INC.5000 company, is seeking a seasoned Sr. Database Engineer with 5+ years of experience to join their team. The ideal candidate will have deep expertise in MySQL, SQL Server, and PostgreSQL, focusing on designing scalable database architectures and developing high-performance queries.
Responsibilities:
- Design and maintain database schemas based on business and technical requirements
- Develop and optimize stored procedures, SQL queries, and scripts to enhance application performance
- Design, build, and maintain end-to-end data pipelines for structured and semi-structured data
- Reverse-engineer SSIS packages to analyze and improve data flows and transformations
- Lead data migration projects, including transitions from SSIS/Informatica to cloud-native data pipeline frameworks
- Develop and manage Azure Data Factory pipelines for data ingestion, orchestration, and scheduling
- Utilize Databricks for data processing, transformation, and integration with relational databases and data lakes
- Work with standard data models (e.g., OMOP, PCORnet) to build compliant and efficient solutions
- Administer SQL Server databases, ensuring high availability, security, and performance
- Utilize DBaaS solutions (Azure, AWS) for scalable database management
- Implement and manage backup, restore, and disaster recovery strategies
- Monitor and troubleshoot database and pipeline performance, resolving bottlenecks proactively
- Perform DBA tasks including configuration, patching, and migrations
- Collaborate with development, operations, analytics, and data engineering teams to meet project deadlines
- Automate the creation, publishing, and scheduling of application reports
Requirements:
- BE/B Tech, ME/MTech, MCA or Higher
- 5+ years of professional experience in database design, development, and administration
- Strong expertise in SQL Server and PostgreSQL, with working knowledge of MySQL
- Advanced SQL scripting and query optimization skills
- Hands-on experience with data pipelines, including design, orchestration, and monitoring
- Proficiency in SSIS (SQL Server Integration Services)
- Experience with Azure Data Factory for building and managing ETL/ELT workflows
- Working experience with Databricks for large-scale data processing and transformation
- Strong problem-solving and analytical skills with high attention to detail
- Strong interpersonal, organizational, and communication skills to work effectively in cross-functional, virtual teams
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills
- Experience with NoSQL databases (e.g., MongoDB) is a plus
- Understanding of Data Lake / Lakehouse architectures is an advantage
- Familiarity with healthcare data standards is a plus
- Experience working with international clients (USA/Europe) preferred
