Babylist is the leading registry, e-commerce, and content platform for growing families. They are seeking a Director of Product Management to own the strategy and vision for the Registry experiences, focusing on customer trust and commercial success while integrating AI into product development.
Responsibilities:
- Own the product strategy and KPIs for the Babylist Registry experiences end-to-end — including acquisition, registry build, gift giver conversion across 1P and 3P, and the core Babylist Shop funnel
- Set and hold the quality bar. Make the hard tradeoffs between business goals and customer trust, with conviction and clear communication
- Shape Babylist's company strategy. Registry is where Babylist's customer relationship begins; what you learn here shapes the rest of the company. You will own communication with execs and the company, using it to influence direction beyond your own surface
- Serve as a model for what an AI-first PM looks like at Babylist. Use AI-native workflows in your own work, ship things yourself, and help define the rituals and practices that the rest of the function will adopt
- Multiply through influence. Bring sharper problem framing, tighter customer insight, data analysis, and prototypes that make decisions easier to make and ship work that compounds. Operate as the central commercial and customer owner that lets builder pods accelerate without losing coherence
- Coach and develop a small team of extremely high-performing PMs (already in seat). Create growth paths, address performance issues quickly and kindly, and build a team culture that sets the bar for the broader function
- Contribute to the shape of the Consumer Tech organization. Work with the VP of Product and your peers to evolve our operating model, our hiring bar, and our craft standards as the function transitions
Requirements:
- Demonstrated company-level product leader with a track record of owning a complex consumer products end-to-end
- Held Principal/Director, Sr. Director PM or VP roles
- Experience at meaningful scale with proven results
- Strategic foresight to articulate where Registry should be in 6, 12, and 24 months
- Ability to define the path from current state to future state
- Deep customer expertise with genuine strength in understanding and co-creating with users
- Ability to bring concrete evidence (both qualitative and quantitative) into decisions
- Fluency in the business, including reading P&Ls and defending a unit economics model
- Understanding of how Registry monetizes through both 1P and 3P channels
- Ownership of outcomes, designing measurement into product thinking from day one
- Experience running hypothesis-driven experiments and leading clean persist/pivot/stop decisions after launch
- Ability to be a force multiplier with sharp problem framing, tight scoping, and crisp communication
- Ownership of the quality bar for Registry and principles by which others build
- Technical fluency, possibly with a CS degree or experience as a developer
- Adaptability to change and a bias toward action
- Clarity of thought and communication that moves conversations forward
- Experience in people leadership, including hiring, coaching, and developing PMs
- Experience actively using LLMs and AI coding tools in daily work
- Ability to decompose problems for AI agents and review/refine their output
- Experience standing up working prototypes to set vision and test ideas with real families
- Fluency in the tech stack to self-serve and contribute to code when necessary
- Excitement about the AI transformation and shaping an AI-first product organization
