Software Engineer (Contract) - Elixir/Phoenix

DockYard, Inc. is a remote-first digital product consultancy that partners with forward-thinking teams to build scalable digital products. They are seeking a Software Engineer with experience in Elixir, Phoenix, and LiveView to collaborate with client teams on feature development and deliver high-quality software solutions.

Responsibilities:

• Work closely with Product, Design, Engineering, and business stakeholders to understand business goals and priorities, analyze product requirements, and collaborate on solutions
• Participate in project planning activities, including breaking the work into appropriately sized tasks and estimating how long each will take
• Work with the team to deliver clean, testable, and maintainable code while staying within budget and time constraints
• On staff augmentation projects, you will embed within client teams to support new feature development and maintain existing systems
• Interface directly with clients, approaching the work not just as an engineer, but as a consultant and partner
• Continually look for opportunities to document and share your knowledge with others
• You may be asked to travel on occasion

Requirements:

• 2-3+ years of experience building and shipping web applications to production using Elixir & Phoenix
• Experience collaborating with cross-functional teams using Agile methodologies
• Excellent written and verbal communication skills
• You are highly collaborative and value authenticity, equity, and empathy
• Experience working in a remote environment
• Prior client services, consulting, or freelancing experience
