The Senior Accountant, Financial Reporting & Analysis supports accounting operations and internal financial reporting through various financial analysis tasks and collaborates closely with the Financial Analyst.
Responsibilities:
- Perform monthly variance analysis and provide clear, supportable explanations of results for Finance leadership and Board reporting needs
- Support budgeting and forecasting processes in collaboration with the Financial Analyst
- Prepare recurring departmental and operational financial reports
- Support ongoing reporting and analysis needs by organizing, maintaining, and analyzing financial datasets
- Assist with ad hoc reporting and analysis requests
- Utilize advanced Excel functionality, including pivot tables, nested formulas, lookups, SUMIF logic, and large-volume data management
- Maintain and update reporting tools, templates, and analytical workbooks developed by the Financial Analyst and Finance team
- Support dashboard and reporting tool maintenance, including Power BI or similar systems
- Assist with process improvement efforts related to reporting efficiency, data integrity, and financial analytics
- Prepare and post accurate journal entries, including accruals, reclasses, and adjustments with complete supporting documentation
- Reconcile assigned balance sheet accounts and resolve reconciling items timely and accurately
- Support monthly and annual close processes, including review and investigation of account activity
- Support preparation and validation of monthly and annual financial reporting packages
- Take ownership of assigned responsibilities and follow through to resolution
- Apply structured problem-solving skills to new or complex issues
- Demonstrate sound judgment in determining when to resolve independently versus escalate
- Communicate clearly and effectively regarding variances, reporting results, and financial issues
- Maintain strong attention to detail while understanding the broader financial impact of work performed
- Adhere to affiliate policies and procedures including meetings and training requirements, ensuring punctuality and attendance, and following personnel policies
- Assist with other duties and projects as assigned by the Controller and CFO
- Foster a collaborative work environment by taking initiative, following through on tasks, and identifying solutions
Requirements:
- Bachelor's degree in Accounting or Finance from an accredited college or university plus 2 - 4 year's accounting and/or financial reporting experience or 4 years related experience in lieu of degree
- Experience preparing journal entries, reconciling balance sheet accounts, supporting close processes, and performing variance analysis
- Advanced Microsoft Excel skills, including pivot tables, lookups, and data analysis
- Proven ability to manage deadlines and produce accurate, supported work with minimal oversight
- Strong communication and organizational skills
- Ability to work independently as well as part of a team
- Passion for supporting mission-driven work and alignment with reproductive healthcare values and access
- Strong accounting fundamentals with experience in traditional accounting entries
- Advanced Excel skills, including IF statements, pivot tables, nested formulas, and macros
- Experience working with large data sets and data management
- Ability to manage existing reports and create new reports/dashboards for future business needs
- Analytical mindset with the ability to build reports that tell a story through data
- Enjoys working with numbers and identifying trends and insights
- CPA or CPA candidate preferred
- Nonprofit accounting and/or healthcare nonprofit experience
- Experience in multi-entity environments
- Experience with MIP Fund Accounting
