Senior Data Engineer

Abstra is a fast-growing, Nearshore Tech Talent services company, providing top Latin American tech talent to U.S. companies and beyond. The company is seeking a Senior Data Engineer with advanced data engineering, analytics, and science expertise to develop scalable data pipelines, manage data warehousing solutions, and apply data science techniques.

Responsibilities:

• Develop and maintain scalable data pipelines
• Translate business requirements into technical specifications
• Manage data warehousing solutions
• Create custom scripts and components in data migration tools
• Create data and code assets
• Troubleshoot and optimize data pipeline performance
• Ensure data quality and integrity
• Migrate legacy data systems to modern platforms
• Apply data science techniques and deploy machine learning models
• Utilize analytics tools for data visualization and reporting
• Stay updated on industry trends in data engineering and data science

Requirements:

• Bachelor's degree in a relevant field
• 5+ years of experience in data engineering and data science
• Ability to work through ambiguity and independently deliver scalable solutions
• Full lifecycle experience (architecture, build, deployment, support) in Agile/CI-CD environments
• Strong analytical thinking, problem-solving, and stakeholder communication skills
• Experience working across data science, analytics, and business teams
• Ability to support both reporting and advanced analytics use cases
• Self-directed, entrepreneurial mindset with strong ownership
• Commitment to documentation and creation of reusable patterns
• Strong analytical and problem-solving skills
• Excellent communication and collaboration skills with internal teams and external clients
• United States of America Visa. If you do not currently have one, you must be prepared to complete the necessary procedures in your country to obtain it, as this position involves travel
• Senior knowledge of Matillion and Snowflake
• Senior knowledge in ETL, ELT, and APIs
• Proficient in SQL and scripting languages (Python, JavaScript)
• Experience with data modeling and data architecture
• Proficiency in Azure Machine Learning, Power BI, and Microsoft SQL Server
• SnowPro Core Certifications, SnowPro Advanced Architect, SnowPro Advanced Data Engineer
• Microsoft Certified: Azure Data Scientist Associate
• Microsoft Certified: Power BI Data Analyst Associate
• Microsoft Certified: Azure Database Administrator Associate
• Matillion Data Productivity Cloud Foundations Certification
• Qlik Talend Core Data Integration Certified Developer
• Certified dbt Developer
