Software Guidance & Assistance, Inc., (SGA), is searching for a
Markets Data Controls Lead for a
contract assignment with one of our premier financial services clients in
Mississauga, ON.
Responsibilities :
- Supporting the global Markets data book of work, the role will be charged with ensuring the timely execution of control deliverables to assess, define and implement data controls across Markets in partnership with Data Domain owners, Data Stewards, Technology and Enterprise Data Office, using their subject matter expertise to be able to provide meaningful solutions that are functional and sustainable to put Markets data under governance.
- Responsible for driving data control transformation in the underlying risk and control processes to manage poor data quality risk.
- Require a strong Markets background, and foundational knowledge of Data Governance practices as well as Data Quality principles, along with a practical knowledge of how to evaluate existing controls, identify gaps, implementation of new controls and supporting exception remediation processes.
- Seeking a highly motivated contractor to serve as Subject Matter Expert (SME) in Markets Data Strategy Controls Strategy and Execution team and act as the central contact for Markets Data Controls.
- Responsible for driving the entire lifecycle of data controls, encompassing control assessment, control creation, implementation, testing, and seamless migration into Business-as-Usual (BAU) operations across various Markets products and the underlying data architecture.
- Ensure that all controls are robust, specifically designed to support the integrity and accuracy of price risk data, adhere strictly to Enterprise Data Office (EDO) and regulatory requirements, effectively reduce data risk, and empower sound decision-making throughout the firm.
- Operates with significant independence while fostering close collaboration with Technology teams, Data Managers, Use Case Leads, the Price Risk Department, and Markets Controls partners to establish sustainable control mechanisms for cross-product data.
- Lead the end-to-end lifecycle of Data Controls for CDE's including assessing existing controls, defining new control requirements, partnering with Technology on design/build, executing testing, and transitioning controls to BAU with Data Managers and Control Owners
- Serve as SME and central point of contact on Markets data controls across Markets products, systems & architecture across various Use Cases (Risk, Finance. Markets)
- Facilitate and monitor adherence to Data Quality dimensions, including completeness, accuracy, timeliness and consistency
- Engage with Business Data Managers and Data Consumers to deliver comprehensive data quality assessments, propose target control enhancements, and articulate the tangible business value derived from enhancements.
Required Skills:
- Undergraduate degree in a quantitative discipline such as computer science, mathematics, statistics, engineering. Finance, or economics is preferred
- 8+ years of experience working within Markets Front Office, Middle Office, or Market Risk/Controls
- Solid experience working with large data sets (trades, orders, risk, pnl, margin, settlements, cashflows/payments, or reference data)
- Strong SQL skills with ability to read and write complex queries, leveraging queries for data analysis, anomaly detection, and validation or data quality and controls
- Experience and passion for data quality and controls implementation
- Ability to proactively identify gaps, issues, and opportunities for improvement without needing continuous direction
- Comfortable managing multiple priorities and tasks in a contractor capacity with accountability for deliverables
- Must be able to write SQL
- Must be proficient in understanding data modeling concepts
- Must understand concepts of data controls and differences between them and how they operate
- Must understand data transfer
- Must understand risk/finance
- Role sits in front office but must have understanding of both front and middle office
Preferred Skills:
- Experience with Python or other modern programming languages is preferred
- Uses AI enabled tools to efficiently complete tasks, enhance analysis, and improve quality and speed of deliverables
