GEICO is a private American auto insurance company seeking a Senior Director of Product Management for Platform and Infrastructure Services. This role will define and drive the enterprise product strategy for Platform & Infrastructure Services, focusing on IaaS, hybrid cloud, and data center engineering, while ensuring platform adoption, reliability, and developer productivity.
Responsibilities:
- Define and execute a multi-year product vision across Platform and Infrastructure domains, including:
- Drive a “platform-first” strategy focused on adoption and reuse, ensuring GEICO workloads run on standardized, enterprise-grade platforms rather than bespoke infrastructure
- Align strategy to enterprise priorities: Cost-to-serve reduction via cloud optimization, repatriation, and FinOps; Platform reliability and operational excellence (availability, MTTx, incident reduction); Developer productivity through self-service platforms and paved roads
- Own and drive a cross-platform product roadmap spanning: Unified Control Plane for consistent provisioning and operations across services; Core services (databases, messaging, caching, storage, API management, workflows); Document, workflow platforms; AI-native developer experiences (e.g., AI-blueprints, AI-assisted migrations, MCP integration); Hybrid cloud platforms and private cloud capacity expansion; Infra modernization; Identity, certificate, and security infrastructure; Data center lifecycle
- Ensure roadmap prioritization is: Adoption-driven (platform usage, onboarding metrics, customer growth); Cost-informed (FinOps savings, utilization, cost attribution gaps); Reliability-aware (incident trends, platform health, SLA adherence)
- Drive adoption of platform services through: Forward-deployed engineering model to onboard critical workloads; Standardized “paved road” experiences (blueprints, Terraform, GitOps patterns, AI-assisted workflows) to fast track adoption; Unified developer experience via a single control plane interface for all services
- Lead platform-level FinOps strategy across PaaS and Infrastructure: Drive cost and utilization optimization initiatives via targeted improvements, rightsizing compute/storage/network resources, SKU optimizations and platform consolidation; Partner with FinOps & engineering to build cost insights and attribution models; Ensure cost efficiency scales alongside platform adoption
- Ensure platforms meet enterprise standards for: Availability and resilience SLOs; Operational excellence (incident reduction, MTTx improvements); Security, compliance, and vulnerability management (e.g., large-scale remediation efforts, PCI/NYDFS alignment); Drive production readiness across hybrid cloud platforms
- Act as the central product leader across Platform & Infra portfolios, driving alignment across: Platform engineering and infrastructure teams; Cybersecurity, SRE, and developer experience teams; Finance (FinOps, procurement, cost governance); Business and application teams onboarding to platforms; Ensure: Clear prioritization of platform investments; Alignment on cost, reliability, and adoption goals; Visibility into roadmap status, risks, and dependencies
Requirements:
- 12+ years of experience in product management leadership for platforms, infrastructure, or cloud services
- Experience owning large-scale platform portfolios (PaaS, IaaS, or hybrid cloud)
- Proven success in driving platform adoption and developer experience at scale
- Strong understanding of cloud platforms (Azure, hybrid cloud environments)
- Strong understanding of platform engineering (paved roads, self-service platforms, control planes)
- Strong understanding of distributed systems (databases, messaging, storage, APIs)
- Experience driving cost optimization / FinOps initiatives at scale
- Demonstrated ability to influence in complex, matrixed organizations
- Experience building internal developer platforms (IDP) or unified control planes
- Familiarity with AI-enabled developer workflows and platform automation
- Background in infrastructure modernization (hybrid cloud, private cloud, DC transformation)
- Experience scaling enterprise SaaS-like platforms internally
