Accion Labs is seeking a Senior Data Engineer with expertise in HCM Workday. The role focuses on leading data migration efforts and developing robust data pipelines while ensuring data quality and security throughout the process.
Responsibilities:
- Lead end-to-end data migration from UKG (Pro/Dimensions) to Workday HCM
- Extract HR data (employee, position, org structure, compensation, benefits, time, accruals) via APIs, BI tools, or DB access
- Design and build ETL/ELT pipelines for downstream enterprise integrations
- Implement CDC and delta load patterns using GoldenGate and/or AWS-native services
- Execute mock cycles (Mock 1, Mock 2, Dress Rehearsal, Go-Live) with reconciliation (row counts, hash totals, key validation)
- Identify and resolve data discrepancies in partnership with functional and integration teams
- Ensure data quality, integrity, and auditability across migration and steady-state pipelines
- Apply data security controls (PII masking, RBAC, SOX-aligned change management)
- Support cutover planning, sequencing, and data validation activities
- Create design documents, mapping specs, runbooks, and audit logs
Requirements:
- Bachelor's degree in Computer Science or a related field
- Strong Python fundamentals with experience in data processing (pandas, NumPy)
- Ability to write clean, efficient, and production-grade code with error handling
- Expertise in distributed data processing
- Hands-on with transformations vs actions, joins, partitioning, and performance tuning
- Experience handling large-scale data and memory optimization
- Hands-on with S3, EMR, AWS Glue, Redshift, Step Functions
- Experience designing cloud-native data pipelines and orchestration
- Strong understanding of fact/dimension modeling and SCDs
- Experience designing scalable schemas and ETL/ELT workflows
- Strong expertise in data extraction, transformation, reconciliation, and production-grade pipeline development across migration and post-go-live integrations
