Responsibilities:
- Promotes company safety culture through coaching, development, influence, and training
- Acts as subject matter expert and liaison for health and safety for the project team and client
- Serves as a key liaison to regulatory agencies and third parties during audits, inspections, and incident investigations
- Prioritizes, as needed, the daily, weekly, and monthly goals and tasks for other Project Safety Specialist working on the project
- Develops and maintains site-specific documentation, including the Site Safety Plan, Site Rules, Emergency Response Plan, Job Hazard Analysis (JHA), and Site Orientation
- Oversees Permit to Work processes
- Delivers training on Safety Initiatives, Site Orientation, Work Instructions, Safety Management System (SMS) requirements, and regulatory requirements
- Leads safety-related discussions at Plan of the Day (POD) Meetings, All Hands Meetings, Tailgate Meetings, Staff Meetings, Kickoff/Preparatory, and Client/Owner Meetings
- Leads the implementation of project safety incentive programs
- Inspects work areas to verify consistency with procedural, client, and regulatory requirements
- Procures, distributes, and maintains safety-related materials and Personal Protective Equipment (PPE) for the project
- Conducts Incident Investigations to determine Root Cause and recommend appropriate Corrective Actions
- Develops Incident Reports to support findings from Incident Investigations
- Drives implementation of proposed Corrective Actions to completion
- Maintains incident data and safety metrics to compile reports
- Facilitates injury management
- Coordinates emergency response efforts
- Facilitates Drug and Alcohol Testing Procedure
- Operates company vehicle safely to drive to various site locations
- Attends work regularly and punctually, as scheduled or expected
- Complies with Employee Handbook, Code of Conduct, and Company Policies & Procedures
- Present, support, and lead-by-example with a safety and quality-oriented attitude
- Assists in development of Risk Assessments and Work Instructions
- Monitors weather conditions and manages severe weather response
- Communicates safety-related incidents to Corporate Health, Safety, Quality, and Environmental (HSQE) Department, across business unit and the organization
- Performs ad hoc job-related duties/functions and projects to support the Project Safety Manager II and/or HSQE Department
- Inspect work areas to verify consistency with procedural, client, and regulatory requirements
- Communicate safety related incidents to Corporate Health, Safety, Quality, and Environmental (HSQE) Department, across business unit, and the organization
- Leads Incident Investigations to determine Root Cause and recommend appropriate Corrective Actions
- Develop Incident Reports to support findings from Incident Investigations
- Assist HSQE Department in the development of 'Safety Alerts' related to incident to help create awareness across the business unit and organization
- Drives implementation of proposed Corrective Actions to completion
- Implement Corporate Drug and Alcohol Testing Procedure
- Maintain incident data and safety metrics to compile reports
- Facilitate audits and inspections by third parties and regulatory agencies
- Procure, distribute, and maintain safety related tools and equipment for the project
- Performs any other job-related duties/functions requested by the Senior Safety Supervisor and/or HSQE Department
Requirements:
- High school/GED required
- 3 or more years of Construction Industry Safety experience required
- OSHA 30 Certification required
- Valid Driver's License required
- Domestic and International travel 76-100% required
- Bachelor's Degree in Environmental Health and Safety related field preferred
- 5 or more years of Construction Industry Safety experience preferred
- 3 or more years Energy/Utility Industry Safety experience preferred
- Certification Emergency Medical Technician preferred
- Certification CHST/CUSP/OHST/NCSO preferred
- Certification First Aid/CPR/AED preferred
- Certification CSP/ASP/GSP/SMP/CRSP/CHSC preferred
- Certification NFPA 70E/CSA Z462 preferred
- OSHA 510 Certification preferred
- OSHA 500 Certification preferred
