Miller-Remick LLC is a full-service MEP engineering firm seeking a Senior Electrical Engineer to lead multiple concurrent capital projects, primarily in the healthcare sector. The role involves overseeing electrical design and coordination, providing mentorship to junior staff, and ensuring successful project execution across various markets.
Responsibilities:
- Lead the electrical design and coordination of commercial, healthcare, and industrial MEP projects from concept through construction administration
- Develop complete electrical construction documents including medium- and low-voltage power distribution, lighting, grounding, low-voltage, and emergency power systems
- Develop single-line diagrams, riser diagrams, and electrical room layouts
- Perform electrical load calculations, short-circuit analysis, voltage drop calculations, arc flash studies, and equipment sizing
- Design branch power, lighting, emergency power, and lighting control systems in accordance with applicable codes and standards
- Coordinate electrical systems with mechanical, plumbing, structural, architectural, and civil disciplines for coordinated project delivery
- Conduct site surveys, field investigations, and existing conditions assessments
- Provide technical leadership and mentorship to junior engineers and drafting/design staff
- Attend client meetings, design coordination meetings, and construction progress meetings
- Evaluate contractor submittals, RFIs, change orders, and shop drawings for technical compliance
- Provide construction administration support including site observations, punch lists, and issue resolution
- Develop project specifications, basis of design narratives, and technical reports
- Utilize Revit, AutoCAD, SKM, ETAP, AGi32, and other engineering software for design and analysis
- Manage multiple projects simultaneously while maintaining quality, schedule, and budget objectives
- Collaborate with multi-discipline project team of internal and external architects and engineers to ensure successful project execution and client satisfaction
Requirements:
- Bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering from an accredited institution
- Professional Engineer (PE) license required
- 10+ years of experience in electrical engineering design for MEP/building systems projects
- Strong knowledge of NEC, NFPA, IBC, IECC, IEEE standards, and applicable local codes
- Proficiency in Revit, AutoCAD, and Microsoft Office Suite
- Understanding of construction documents and engineering design processes
- Strong organizational, analytical, and problem-solving abilities
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills
- Travel to client sites as required
- Familiarity with electrical analysis and lighting software such as SKM and Visual Lighting preferred
- Experience mentoring junior engineering staff and leading project teams preferred
- Experience in hospitals and healthcare, military bases, government buildings and courthouses, research laboratories, central steam and chilled water plants, corrections facilities, and/or site utility infrastructure highly valued
