Product Designer - UI/UX – Remote Contract

The UVA VEC is seeking experienced Product Design and UX professionals to contribute to a cutting-edge AI research initiative. In this role, you'll leverage your expertise in user experience, interface design, and product thinking to evaluate design quality and usability for next-generation AI systems.

Responsibilities:

• Evaluate product designs, interfaces, and user experiences
• Provide structured feedback on usability, navigation, and user journeys
• Create or review product mockups, wireframes, and design concepts
• Apply professional design judgment to assess visual quality and user-centric design decisions
• Help improve AI systems' understanding of product design best practices and user experience principles

Requirements:

• 3+ years of professional experience in Product Design, UX Design, UI Design, or related fields
• Experience working within leading technology companies or high-growth digital product environments
• Strong portfolio showcasing user-centered design work
• Experience conducting UX reviews and providing actionable design feedback
• Ability to translate complex user needs into intuitive product experiences
• Proficiency with Figma, Sketch, Adobe Creative Suite, or similar design tools
• Experience creating wireframes, prototypes, and product mockups
• Strong understanding of UX principles, user journeys, and interaction design
• Excellent communication and presentation skills
• Strong attention to detail and design consistency
