Capgemini is seeking a Senior Functional Safety Engineer to deliver functional safety work products in compliance with ISO 26262. The role involves safety analysis, reliability calculations, and collaboration with cross-functional teams to ensure compliance with functional safety requirements throughout the development lifecycle.
Responsibilities:
- Deliver functional safety work products in accordance with ISO 26262 Part 5
- Perform safety analyses including:
- Fault Tree Analysis (FTA)
- Dependent Failure Analysis (DFA)
- Failure Modes, Effects, and Diagnostic Analysis (FMEDA)
- Interpret custom mission profiles and accurately calculate component FIT (Failure In Time) rates
- Execute FMEDA activities using industry-standard tools such as Ansys Medini or Isograph
- Support definition and verification of functional safety requirements and safety metrics
- Develop test case specifications to ensure coverage of safety mechanism validation
- Collaborate with cross-functional teams to address functional safety concerns and ensure compliance with standards
- Document results clearly and provide technical input for reviews, audits, and assessments as required
Requirements:
- Bachelor's degree in engineering (Electrical, Electronics, Automotive, Systems, or related discipline)
- 6-8 years of experience in Functional safety
- Strong hands-on experience with ISO 26262 functional safety, particularly Part 5 (Hardware Safety)
- Proven experience performing FTA, DFA, and FMEDA
- Experience calculating reliability metrics and FIT rates based on mission profiles
- Proficiency with Ansys Medini and/or Isograph tools
- Solid understanding of automotive electronic systems and safety mechanisms
- Functional Safety certification (e.g., TÜV or equivalent)
- Previous experience working in automotive OEM or Tier-1 supplier environments
- Experience supporting safety validation and test planning activities
