Cognizant is seeking a Sr. AWS Data Engineer to design and optimize cloud-native data solutions for enterprise-scale analytics. The role involves collaborating with architects and data scientists to deliver scalable data pipelines and infrastructure on AWS.
Responsibilities:
- Design and implement scalable ETL/ELT pipelines and data transformation frameworks using AWS-native services including Glue, EMR, Lambda, and Kinesis
- Architect and manage data lake and data warehouse solutions leveraging Amazon S3, Redshift, and Aurora to support large-scale analytical workloads
- Lead data migration, replication, and database modernization initiatives using AWS DMS and related tooling
- Develop and maintain workflow orchestration using Apache Airflow and perform performance tuning and optimization for large-scale datasets
- Partner with cross-functional teams in Agile delivery models to ensure data solutions align with business requirements and architectural standards
Requirements:
- 10+ years of experience in data engineering, with strong hands-on expertise in AWS cloud-native data solutions
- Proficiency with core AWS data services: Glue, Redshift, Aurora, S3 (Data Lakes), Lambda, EMR (Spark/Hadoop), Athena, Kinesis (Streaming), and DMS
- Strong knowledge of SQL and data modeling concepts, including experience designing ETL/ELT pipelines and data transformation frameworks
- Experience with Python, PySpark, or similar scripting/programming languages for data engineering tasks
- Solid understanding of data migration, replication, database modernization strategies, and performance tuning for large-scale datasets
- Familiarity with data lake and data warehouse architectures and experience working in Agile delivery models
- AWS certifications such as AWS Certified Data Analytics – Specialty or AWS Certified Solutions Architect
- Experience with infrastructure-as-code tools (e.g., Terraform, CloudFormation) for managing cloud data infrastructure
- Familiarity with data governance, data quality frameworks, and modern data mesh or lakehouse architectures
