The role involves engaging with advanced language models on various materials science topics and verifying factual accuracy and logical soundness of their outputs.
Responsibilities:
- Converse with the model on lab scenarios and theoretical materials science questions
- Verify factual accuracy and logical soundness
- Capture reproducible error traces
- Suggest improvements to our prompt engineering and evaluation metrics
Requirements:
- PhD in materials science, materials engineering, or a closely related physical science field
- Expertise in crystallography, thermomechanical processing, nanomaterials, polymer science, electronic materials, biomaterials, corrosion science, and composite development
- Experience with phase transformations, microstructure-property relationships, materials characterization techniques (XRD, SEM, TEM), thermal analysis, additive manufacturing, materials failure analysis, and sustainability in materials engineering
- Ability to converse with the model on lab scenarios and theoretical materials science questions
- Skill in verifying factual accuracy and logical soundness
- Ability to capture reproducible error traces
- Capability to suggest improvements to prompt engineering and evaluation metrics
- Clear, metacognitive communication skills
