Summary: Our client is seeking an experienced Embedded Firmware / Systems Engineer to take ownership of a tablet-based subsystem and drive completion of remaining development, integration, and validation activities. This role will focus on firmware updates for a PIC microcontroller, Linux-based system validation, PXE boot infrastructure setup, and production test development. The ideal candidate is hands-on, comfortable working across hardware and software boundaries, and capable of troubleshooting complex system-level issues in a fast-paced environment.
Required Skills:
- Strong experience with embedded firmware development, especially low-level systems programming
- Bare-metal experience with PIC controllers (client is using PIC18 and PIC12 on the board)
- C/C++ experience
- Experience working in Linux environments (RedHat/RHEL and/or Ubuntu)
- Hands-on experience with hardware validation, system integration, and troubleshooting
- Experience configuring and working with PXE boot environments or something similar
- Ability to debug across hardware, firmware, and OS layers
- Experience developing test procedures and technical documentation
Bonus skills (not required):
- Mixed-signal circuit design, schematic capture, or related hardware design experience
- Experience with USB HID / keyboard emulation firmware
- Background working with Intel-based embedded systems or motherboards
- Experience setting up production test infrastructure or manufacturing test environments
- Familiarity with SDRL documentation and regulated development environments
- Experience supporting bring-up of tablet or custom embedded platforms
