Pay Rate: $34.00 - $40.00/hr (Depending on Experience - 40 hrs/week)
We are seeking an Associate Engineer to join the Asset Management & Reliability team, supporting critical initiatives that improve the reliability, maintenance, and long-term performance of transmission and substation assets. This role will focus on analyzing equipment performance data, supporting maintenance strategies, and helping drive asset replacement decisions across the electric grid.
Working alongside experienced engineers and technical specialists, you will gain exposure to utility asset management practices, reliability engineering, and system-level decision making.
Responsibilities
Analyze asset performance, maintenance, and reliability data to identify trends and opportunities for improvement
Support preventive maintenance program reviews in collaboration with engineering subject matter experts
Assist in developing asset replacement strategies and program charters for aging infrastructure
Support evaluation of equipment health and performance data across transmission and substation asset classes
Support reliability assessments and maintenance planning initiatives for critical electric utility assets
Prepare technical reports, presentations, and recommendations based on asset performance findings
Collaborate with engineers, technical specialists, operations personnel, and cross-functional stakeholders to support asset management objectives
Contribute to continuous improvement efforts that enhance system reliability, operational efficiency, and risk management
Assist with engineering studies and special projects related to equipment maintenance and replacement planning
Requirements
Bachelor's degree in electrical engineering preferred; Computer Engineering or closely related field considered
1-2 years of engineering experience preferred; entry level candidates with relevant internship or co-op experience will be considered
Strong analytical and problem-solving skills with the ability to interpret and evaluate technical data
Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite (Excel, Word, PowerPoint)
Strong written and verbal communication skills
Ability to collaborate effectively across engineering and operational teams
Preferred:
Experience within the utility, power, manufacturing, or industrial sectors
Exposure to asset management, maintenance planning, reliability engineering, or equipment lifecycle analysis
Experience working with datasets, performance tracking, or reporting tools (Power BI, SQL, Python, or similar a plus)
Familiarity with transmission or substation equipment such as transformers, breakers, switches, arrestors, or protective relays
Manufacturing or plant controls experience
Experience in a corporate or matrixed work environment with cross-functional collaboration
