Thermo Fisher Scientific is a company dedicated to helping customers find cures for cancer, protect the environment, and ensure food safety. They are seeking a Field Service Engineer II specializing in electron microscopy to conduct installations, maintenance, and repairs of advanced analytical instruments while collaborating with customers and cross-functional teams.
Responsibilities:
- Conduct on-site installation of innovative equipment and follow testing procedures to ensure accurate working order
- Conduct on-site scheduled planned maintenance visits
- Provide diagnosis and repair support for customers and other field personnel
- Cultivate and develop positive working relationships with customers, system users, and company personnel
- Travel, often on short notice, to customer sites to resolve problems or support other field service personnel
- Complete and submit field service reports
- Provide training to customers and users on system maintenance
- Collaborate multi-functionally with product quality teams
- Provide appropriate input in writing updating and correcting various Thermo Fisher system documentation
- Provide guidance for various reports including identifying and isolating outstanding problems with the system
- Act as a subject expert and resource for training
Requirements:
- High School Diploma or GED equivalent required
- Bachelor's degree preferred with 4+ years or equivalent experience of hands-on technical experience installing, troubleshooting, repairing, and calibrating sophisticated analytical tools such as SEM, TEM, FIB, or similar systems
- A detailed understanding and extensive experience diagnosing and repairing ultra-high vacuum and high voltage systems highly desired
- Ability to deal effectively with customers
- Excellent interpersonal amicability; must have a professional working proficiency in English
- Consistent record of fixing innovative systems and subsystems down to the component level
- Literate in MS DOS and Windows software environments
- Able to read and interpret schematics
- Familiar with UHV phenomenon and technology
- Must have ability to acquire a valid passport and travel regionally and internationally as required
- Physical requirements include the ability to lift up to 50 lbs
- Must be legally authorized to work in the United States without sponsorship
- Must be able to pass a comprehensive background check, which includes a drug screening
