Cybersecurity Engineer

JOB SUMMARY: The Cybersecurity Engineer is responsible for designing, implementing, and integrating security solutions across systems and applications to protect organizational data and infrastructure. This role partners with engineering, product, and business teams to embed security and privacy throughout the development lifecycle, ensuring risk mitigation and compliance with security standards. KEY RESPONSIBILITIES: Collaborate with product, engineering, and strategy teams to integrate security into business solutions Review system and application designs to identify security risks and improvement opportunities Define and assign risk-based security and privacy requirements to project teams Ensure security is embedded across all phases of the development lifecycle (design, implementation, validation) Identify, assess, and mitigate security and privacy risks Lead discussions on cost vs. risk trade-offs for security implementations Document security requirements, risks, and exceptions for projects Influence product and vendor selection based on security standards Monitor security trends and align them with organizational needs Drive improvements in security operations and practices REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS: Bachelors degree in computer science, Cybersecurity, IT, or related field + 4 years of experience OR Masters degree + 2 years of experience OR 16 years of relevant experience in lieu of degree 3+ years of experience in security architecture, operations, design, or development Strong knowledge across multiple security domains (network, application, IAM, data protection, etc.) Experience with security operations (incident, change, vulnerability, configuration management) Strong analytical, problem-solving, and communication skills Ability to manage multiple projects and priorities PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS: Certifications such as CISSP, CISM, or CISA Experience in Big 4 or Fortune 500 environments Knowledge of frameworks like NIST or CIS Experience with cloud security and container security Experience working with agile development teams Telecom/Cable industry experience WORK ENVIRONMENT: Cross-functional, fast-paced environment Involves collaboration with technical and business stakeholders EXPERIENCE REQUIRED: 35+ years of relevant cybersecurity experience Education: Bachelors Degree
