Associate Data Engineer I

BlueCross BlueShield of Tennessee is seeking an Associate Data Engineer I to join their Data Management – Vendor Data Engineering team. This role involves supporting the development and maintenance of data pipelines for vendor integrations and analytics workflows, while collaborating with data engineers and business analysts.

Responsibilities:

• Formulates and defines system scope and objectives through research and fact-finding to design, develop, modify, or integrate information systems
• Devises or modifies application systems and procedures to optimize functional requirements including capacity, operating time, response time, and form of desired results
• Designs, codes, tests, debugs, and documents programs, subroutines, and scripts
• Maintains technical skill set for software languages, databases, platforms, operating systems, utilities and networks needed to support work assignments
• Responds to system failures and performance events by taking appropriate measures to reduce system downtime and eliminate recurrence of problems
• May conduct presentations to provide end users with knowledge to maximize their use of developed systems

Requirements:

• Bachelors Degree in Computer Science (or related field) or equivalent work experience required
• Foundation in SQL and Python
• Ability to design, test, and troubleshoot data pipelines
• Experience supporting data warehouse structures
• Ability to resolve data quality issues
• Participation in an on-call rotation
• Collaboration across teams
• Technical skill set for software languages, databases, platforms, operating systems, utilities and networks needed to support work assignments
