Job Description
We are seeking an experienced IBM Workload Scheduler (IWS/Tivoli Workload Scheduler/TWS) Administrator to support and maintain enterprise batch scheduling and workload automation environments for the State of New York. The ideal candidate will have strong experience with IBM Workload Scheduler, production support, workload optimization, and UNIX/Linux administration.
Required Skills
- 8+ years of experience with IBM Workload Scheduler (IWS/Tivoli Workload Scheduler/TWS)
- Hands-on experience in job scheduling, workload automation, and batch processing
- Strong knowledge of UNIX/Linux and Windows operating systems
- Experience with job monitoring, troubleshooting, and performance tuning
- Proficiency in scripting using Shell, PowerShell, Perl, or Python
- Experience with workload forecasting, scheduling, dependency management, and capacity planning
- Strong analytical, troubleshooting, and production support skills
- Excellent communication and problem-solving abilities
Roles & Responsibilities
- Administer, configure, and maintain IBM Workload Scheduler (IWS/TWS) environments.
- Create, modify, schedule, and manage batch jobs, job streams, and scheduling workflows.
- Monitor daily production schedules and proactively resolve job failures and scheduling issues.
- Perform workload optimization, forecasting, and capacity planning to improve system performance.
- Support system upgrades, patches, migrations, and environment maintenance activities.
- Troubleshoot scheduling issues and coordinate with infrastructure and application support teams.
- Ensure high availability and reliability of enterprise batch processing environments.
- Participate in production support, incident management, and root cause analysis.
- Maintain scheduling documentation and follow organizational change management procedures.
Preferred Skills
- IBM Workload Scheduler (IWS) Certification
- Experience with enterprise scheduling and workload automation platforms
- Knowledge of ITIL processes and change management
- Experience supporting large-scale enterprise production environments
