A3 Consulting LLC is a leading management and technology firm specializing in innovative solutions for federal government customers. They are seeking a creative and technical UI/UX Designer & Researcher to lead user experience strategy for a defense-centric project, focusing on transforming complex data into intuitive interfaces and conducting user research.
Responsibilities:
- Own the User Interface and Experience for designated capabilities from concept to deployment, ensuring they are highly functional, user-centric, and strictly aligned with DCSA standards
- Conduct formal user research, structured stakeholder interviews, and task-based usability testing with defined success criteria to assess how NI2 capabilities support mission user workflows
- Develop and maintain comprehensive User Personas and Journey Maps that represent key NI2 user groups across current and target-state operations
- Produce User Research and Usability Test Reports to capture findings, identify pain points, and drive iterative, user-centered design improvements
- Map out optimized workflows designed to achieve at least a 40% reduction in the average number of operations required to complete standard tasks compared to the legacy system baseline
- Design intuitive dashboards and interfaces that visualize complex risk data, Continuous Vetting for Facilities (CV-F) metrics, and AI/ML outputs, making information easily digestible for analysts
- Create wireframes and interactive prototypes that strictly adhere to the DCSA UI Style Guide
- Collaborate closely with full-stack developers to ensure designs are technically feasible and that login/page load times meet strict performance thresholds
- Ensure all interfaces are fully compliant with Section 508 accessibility standards, guaranteeing an inclusive experience for all users
- Establish and maintain feedback loops to ensure the delivered software maintains an acceptable User Satisfaction Score across end users
Requirements:
- Bachelor's degree in Human-Computer Interaction (HCI), Design, Computer Science, or equivalent professional experience
- 5-7+ years of experience in a UI/UX design, user research, or front-end development role
- A strong portfolio showcasing your work on data-heavy applications, demonstrating your ability to visualize complex information and map complex user journeys
- Proven experience conducting structured stakeholder interviews, observation of representative user workflows, and task-based usability testing
- Proficiency in translating complex business requirements into intuitive wireframes and prototypes using modern design tools (e.g., Figma, Adobe XD)
- Must possess an active DoD Top Secret clearance with SCI eligibility
- Experience designing interfaces for DoD case management, security vetting, or analytical systems
- Familiarity operating within an Agile ecosystem, leveraging tools like Jira and Confluence
- Familiarity with the DoD Risk Management Framework (RMF) and its impact on UI design
