Biology Research Expert – AI Scientific Reasoning

The UVA VEC is seeking accomplished Biology and Biophysics Researchers for their AI Scientific Reasoning Project. The role involves developing and reviewing research-level biology and biophysics problems for AI training and evaluation, as well as collaborating with a team of researchers on high-impact scientific initiatives.

Responsibilities:

• Develop and review challenging research-level biology and biophysics problems for AI training and evaluation
• Assess AI-generated outputs involving experimental design, mechanistic reasoning, literature analysis, and scientific interpretation
• Identify limitations, errors, and reasoning gaps in advanced AI models
• Contribute expert insights that improve scientific accuracy and model performance
• Collaborate with a team of researchers and AI specialists on high-impact scientific initiatives
